How the Karma Court System Works
Member Reports a Violation
member has received or witnessed a violation of the Court Observation Codes of Conduct and decides to submit a report
Suspect Receives and Views Report
the reporting member has the option of notifying (also known as courtesy notification) the suspected violator that a report has been filed with the court clerk. When notified, the suspect has the opportunity to review the report and decide whether or not to take action
Suspect Responds
a suspect may choose one of the following ways to respond:
  • Restore
pick a Restore card if they wish to issue some form of an apology with the intention of restoring mutual respect
  • Refute
pick a Refute card if they disagree with the Report and wish to challenge it privately or send it to the Grand Jury for consideration
  • Reject
pick a Reject card to communicate their indifference
  • Grand Jury
Violation Reports seeking resolution are sent to the Karma Court Grand Jury for consideration as a case in the Karma Court of Public Opinion. Grand Jury Cases are opened up when either the Suspected Violator picks one of the Refute Cards that will send their Response along with the Report and any documentation to the Karma Court Grand Jury or the grace period for Automatic Grand Jury submission passes and the Automatic Grand Jury option is still active
    Karma Court of Public Opinion
Grand Jury Cases seeking resolution are escalated into Open Court Cases where members of this site may vote as jurors. Jurors Vote REDIRECTION if they've decided the Suspected Violator HAS committed a Violation and want to send "what goes around, back around" or REFLECTION if they've decided the suspected violator has NOT committed a Violation and the reporter may want to reflect on it. Please see the Karma Court of Public Opinion Case Docket
